Ouran Koukou Host-bu (桜蘭高校ホスト部), also known as Ouran High School Host Club in English, started off being a manga serialized in LaLa magazine by a mangaka by the name of Hatori Bisuko (also the mangaka for A Thousand Years Of Snow). In 2006, it was aired in animation by BONES.

The series follows the journey of Fujioka Haruhi, a freshman of Ouran High School which is a private institution where pedigree comes first and money second. Haruhi is a scholarship student admitted to Ouran High School and has neither pedigree nor money (she is classified as a commoner, and is the only one in the entire school). One day when searching for a quiet place to study, she stumbles upon the Third Music Room where the school's Host Club is held. The Host Club is a group of six attractive male students and spend time charming and entertaining female students.

The club consists of: Suou Tamaki, President and the King of the club; Ootori Kyouya, Vice-president and Shadow King; Haninozuka Mitsukuni, 3rd year student; Morinozuka Takashi, also a 3rd year student; Hitachiin Hikaru and Hitachiin Kaoru, a pair of mischievous twins whose actions hint on an incestuous relationship..

Shocked after the Host Club's greeting, Haruhi accidentally breaks a rune vase worth ¥8,000,000 and is then assigned as the club's dog to do trivial chores. However, upon discovering that Haruhi does have looks and charms, they eventually promoted her to be a host in order to pay off her debts.

Ps. Oh, by the way, Haruhi is a girl. The students of the school actually thought she was a boy because of her disheveled haircut, slacks, vest and T-shirt similar to the boy's uniform when she first entered the school as she was unable to purchase the uniform as it was too expensive. The Host Club had actually mistook her as a boy at first, and made her the male student's uniform. She didn't complain however, and feels that there is nothing wrong about it (since she has such low gender-threshold identity) as long as it pays off her debts.
